I awake in the dark

Sweating and tense

I woke up just before the bungee cord stretched me too far into the concrete

I take the room into my lungs

I'm scanning for details

I reach across the bed...

But it hits me long before my hand finds only the pillow

He's not here

There's no one who loves me here
